John Harrison Photography  > Portfolio > Landscape Photography Portfolio
Thanks for visiting a small selection of my favorite landscape photographs. I share a passion for chasing waterfalls, moons and suns among my Nature Photographs. I shoot in a number of San Francisco Bay Area locations including Yosemite. Attempting to capture the light to create the moment when I was there is what I hope to accomplish. Please drop me an email or leave a comment below. Thanks for stopping in! I also have a Facebook Fan located here:http://www.facebook.com/pages/Yosemite-and-Bay-Area-Nature-Photography-by-John-Harrison/190152125697

All images are for sale in various matted and framed print sizes. Please see information about purchasing prints in the menu above. All images are also Copyright John Harrison Photography and may NOT be used without express permission.

John Harrison Photography > "Bouquet of Color" Tulips at Filoli, Woodside, California. I stumbled upon this grouping of tulips and the bright colors with the blue in the background really caught my attention. I used a wide angle lens to distort the perspective. Printed on a gallery wrap canvas, this just jumps out at you! This can also be seen in my images that have received awards. http://www.jharrisonphoto.com/Other/Awards/4696664_ZiLTZ
John Harrison Photography > "Sunset above Yosemite National Park" I captured this sunset above Yosemite National Park on the way to the Aperture Nature Photography Workshop. Luckily I was running late, as the rest of the crew were in a hotel room while I captured the pine trees silhouetted against the best sunset of the trip. More images from my Aperture Nature Photography Workshop gallery can be seen here. http://www.jharrisonphoto.com/gallery/7554507_MVWMR
John Harrison Photography > "Sunset Flowing", Yosemite National Park, Aperture Nature Photography Workshop Contest trip. "Water, Light and Textures" series. We were shooting at Valley View at sunset with stark blue skies. Scott Bourne had been reminding us to look around and find the smaller images - don't always look for the big picture that anyone else can shoot. The reflected orange glow from El Capitan just lit up the Merced and I found this soothing image. This image is inspired by Charlie Cramer and Michael Frye who I have worked with. This image is available as a canvas giclée gallery wrap in sizes 16"x24", 20"x30", 28"x42" and 38"x58". John Harrison Photography > "Bridalveil Flows" - Spring flows from Bridalveil Falls. Aperture Nature Photography Workshop Contest, Yosemite National Park. This image is available as a canvas giclée gallery wrap in sizes 16"x24", 20"x30", 28"x42" and 38"x58" I found this little spot coming down from Bridalveil Falls when I was shooting with Steve Simon. I could see the potential in this spot and just kept working it and moving until I finally saw the swirls and nature path coming down. A big version of this image on the wall will let you feel like you are still up in Yosemite. This is one of those hidden pictures that can be found where there and already so many beautiful images to be found. More images from my Aperture Nature Photography Workshop gallery can be seen here. http://www.jharrisonphoto.com/gallery/7554507_MVWMR
John Harrison Photography > Fern Springs. This is one of the smallest waterfalls in Yosemite National Park. People drive-by it as they enter the valley and never stop. It is definitely one of the most beautiful hidden treasures in Yosemite. Just over the Pohono Bridge, I myself had passed by it many times. I made a point to visit it twice! People would stop and ask what I was taking pictures of!
John Harrison Photography > "Path to Redwoods" Prairie Creek Redwood National Park. I stumbled upon this bridge in the Prairie Creek portion of Redwood National Park (I crept out while visiting the inlaws!). I had hoped to get out and take pictures before the fog broke, but the sun started beaming through the redwoods in the background. I was able to tame the light and capture this image. I love the feeling you get just walking across the bridge and the choices of the two paths to take. I am inspired to capture those places I want to be on a Friday afternoon.

I am debuting this week my latest images from my award winning trip to Yosemite. My Yosemite can be seen here. Let me know which ones you like! Thanks, John
John Harrison Photography > "Pajaro Sunset" Pajaro Dunes, California Sunset and Ocean during summer. This is one of those images I captured while on vacation with our family. We were staying with friends at this nice house right on the beach (the kind of setting you don’t want to ever leave!) The sun was low in the sky with nice clouds and color. I could hear the waves crashing on the beach below. I shot this off of the deck of our house including the tall grasses, fence and red wildflowers that really completed this shot. This is one of those places that I want to be on a Friday afternoon.
John Harrison Photography > Upper Falls at Uvas Canyon Creek, nestled in the foothills just south of San Jose. I headed there to shoot after the spring rains and just caught the lush green colors and flows from the creeks. This is another one of those places I would like to be on a Friday afternoon.
John Harrison Photography > Storm and Sunset over Mono Lake. White caps were brewing on Mono Lake so I shot this with a 4 second exposure to give this mystical feel to it. The storm clouds were still looming and the sunset was peeking through to highlight the tufa in the center. The salt spray from the lake created the snow like ring around the lake. The winds were about 20-30 miles an hour and I had to use my camera bag and body to weight the tripod down so there was no movement during the long exposure. Something a little different from Mono Lake!
John Harrison Photography > Nature's Box of Crayons - Fall Aspens with fresh snow over near Lee Vining and Mono Lake. Just a beautiful setting with the light dusting of fresh snow!
John Harrison Photography > "Bridalveil Trickles" Yosemite National Park. "Water, Light and Textures" series. This image is available as a canvas giclée gallery wrap in sizes 16"x24", 20"x30", 28"x42" and 38"x58" More images from my Aperture Nature Photography Workshop gallery can be seen here. http://www.jharrisonphoto.com/gallery/7554507_MVWMR
John Harrison Photography > "Sunset at Tenaya Lake", Yosemite National Park - Tioga Pass. Just a beautiful sunset at Tenaya Lake. There were no clouds in the sky all day and right at sunset the winds died down to smooth out the lake and a few wisps of clouds came through delivering some brilliant colors.
John Harrison Photography > Garrapata State Park Calla Lilies. We set out to find this hidden spot along the coast North of Big Sur in Garrapata State Park. (Photographers and nature lovers don't share details very often to find this little spot!) We found this little cluster of three perfect Calla Lilies just sitting there. I used my 10-20mm lens to distort and enhance the foreground. This image looks fantastic printed at least 20x30 as a Museum Quality Gallery Wrap. My wife has this in our dining room and admires it everyday. Ahhh.... to be in Big Sur right now. This is one of those places I want to be on a Friday afternoon. Keep Shooting!
