"Late Afternoon along the Na Pali Coast" Napali Coast, Kauai
"Late Afternoon along the Na Pali Coast" This is one of my favorite images that is above our fireplace. A collector just purchased a 30" x 45" metal print so I had to re-share since it has been a while. Let me know what you think?! This was the shot I had been looking for - beautiful green wrinkly cliffs, lush blue water with touches of Kauai red dirt in there. Kauai is a special place as my wife and I had our honeymoon there. Ever since we were there, I knew I wanted to go back and bring part of Kauai for my walls here in California. On a follow-up trip to Kauai, I charted a little R22 2 person helicopter for a private charter to get this image. It was so small my son wanted to know where the rest of the helicopter was! (it is really tight in there and I bumped the control stick a few times while being preoccupied with shooting!) It took about 5 reschedules of the helicopter trip to find the right weather conditions while I was in Kauai - that was the image that I had visualized in my head that I wanted. It was either rainy or cloudy along the coast as weather is really unpredictable in Kauai! I finally pulled the trigger. 2 hours of flying back and forth to get the right lighting conditions and it was right! I had two collectors with houses in Kauai who pre-purchased images from the Napali coast before I ever set out! This looks fantastic large on canvas but even better on Metal or my new HD Acrylic Flex mounted images. This was captured a BorrowLenses.com Nikon D3S and Nikon 28-70 f/2.8 lens. This is shot at 1/800 second and f/4.5. You can see the large image here: http://smu.gs/iPfeK7 — with Kauai, borrowlenses and Na Pali Coast.
