11/8/09. "Sunset on Half Dome from Glacier Point" Some nice color in the summer sky with clouds above Clouds Rest and Nevada and Vernal Falls. It was uncertain if we were going to get a good sunset as high clouds hid the sun from penetrating through. These last glimpses were at dusk as the sky started to light up. This is one of those places I want to be on a Friday afternoon! Sept 8 -2011. Thanks for all the positive comments folks! Love it. This image looks great as a 40x60 as well! 11/12 Galen's Arch at Alabama Hills in the Eastern Sierra. We were shooting at sunrise packed all around the Mobius Arch otherwise known as Galen's Arch for the Galen Rowell who made it famous. I was excited to have met John Shaw who was quietly shooting there with us. Just another fantastic place to be.

11/13 - "Heart over Horsetail Falls" Yosemite National Park. Sunset Spring 2009. I captured this during another outing to capture Horsetail Falls. The water flow over the falls was pretty low this winter. As I was shooting I noticed the winds picking up. Some gusts picked up the trickle of the falls and it puffed up like a cloud - the sun shining on the mist and I froze this moment. This year was almost non-existent for capturing any good Horsetail Falls pictures since it was cloudy and snowing much of February this year - I guess that is what makes this such a hard picture to take since the window for good images is only a few weeks. 11/16 - The Great Wall. Badaling Section. For my visit to Beijing, I had a fantastic guide who managed to get me access to the Great Wall BEFORE it opened to the public! He asked me why I wanted to leave so early?! Now he knows why! This is one of the most visited and popular sections of the wall to visit and I am glad I was able to enjoy it with NO ONE THERE! This is the way a treasure like this is supposed to be enjoyed!

11/17. Aspen Leaves Fall Down by The Creek. I found this group of fall leaves down on the rocks in the creek bed. The water rushing by and the fall colors made this just a perfect place to hang out. 12/2. Royal National Park in Australia at Sunset. I captured this during my fantastic business trip to Australia where I managed to get out to take a few pictures as well. This was one of my FAVORITE locations! One of my friends, Matt, who lives in Sydney took me out there. It rained on us, was hot and sunny and then the sunset was just fantastic! I couldn't have asked for anything more. I was definitely having a little TOO much fun as I kept shooting past sun down... and the tide kept coming UP!! We made it back around cove without any problems! I just finished processing this today for my first time -- let me know what you think.

12/4 "Rock Layers to the Sky" Royal National Park, 1 hour South of Sydney near Bundeena. This was earlier in the afternoon at the coast at the Royal National Park. Just God's playground of rock textures, shapes and patterns. Add a rich blue and cloudy sky, mix in an ultra-wide angle lens that I love to use and you have a rockin' combination!

Fall Colors on the Merced River in Yosemite. I was shooting with retired Yosemite Park Ranger Mike Osbourne during an Ansel Adams workshop along the Merced river. We stumbled across these vibrant Fall colors reflecting in the Merced. Just a pleasing set of greens, yellows and Oranges with a Monet look on the water. 12/7 - Sydney Skyline at Night. I captured this a few months ago and just reprocessed this. I love night skylines especially when you get the water reflections of the color of the lights. I did one crop without the lamp post and buildings to the right of it, but it wasn't as interesting imho - I like the path that takes you walking along together with the subtle wrought iron fence. For the technical details -- This is about 10 images shot vertically with my Nikon f/2.8 28-70 (love that lens!). 10s at f/16. Stitched together in Photoshop CS4. Post in LR and PS. The amount of detail in the image is stunning when you look at the high res!

12/11/09. Ring of Fire at Sunset. Royal National Park, near Sydney Australia. After an amazing day of rain, sun, clouds and a great sunset, the 'symphony' of the sunset continued to play as the sun kept dropping. The entire sky started to glow and a pink ring of fire lit up. What a fantastic way to end a day!

Light on Yosemite Falls. After a fresh snowfall in Yosemite, I went out taking pictures the next morning. The storm was just beginning to clear with a glint of sunlight highlighting Yosemite falls. A touch of blue skies were peeking through! Such an incredible place to be in the winter! 12/21. Big Sur Sunset and waves_DSC1781. I captured this at Sunset in the middle of the rocks and waves. The waves would come crashing in and through this little trough between the rocks. My friend I was shooting with got stuck down in the trough when the wave came in and almost lost his camera! Wow! Thanks for the awesome comments on my image! 12/ 23. "Sea of Pebbles" Rock Textures in Point Lobos. This is a nice simple but colorful image of the sea pebbles at Point Lobos - one of my favorite places to shoot. I just updated the image as I was printing some 24x24 canvas giclée images for customers and wanted to share.

1/1/10 - Just a fun picture of the Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas. It is always fun to head down and watch those. I wonder if I could have a fountain like this in my front yard?! For the technical folks - this is actually a multiple exposure image captured just as the fountains sprayed and then again after they concluded ...to get the optimum color and lighting on the hotel and water. As always a tripod is crucial!

1/5 - "Morning Sunlight in Jackson Hole" I captured this outside of Jackson Hole. The clouds were clearing and little bursts of sunlight were beaming through. The grass was so vibrant and green from the spring rains. I was really taken by the bales of hay with a little morning glow on them with the wrinkly mountains behind. Just another amazing place I would love to be!

Airplane flying at 80 MILLION Feet! Yes, this is an iphone picture taken of the in-flight entertainment/flight status system on my United SFO-Sydney 747 flight to Sydney, Australia. I was a little worried when I saw this! Yes, the altitude says 80 MILLION feet! For those of you who don't know any better -- airlines fly at 20-40 THOUSAND feet. Also, this would be 15,000 miles or 24,300 KM! 1/9 Russian Blue under the tree. I was playing around with my f/1.4 lens and flash trying to get a nice bokeh, sharp eyes and soft flash! I think this pulled it off. "Winter Sunset at the Coast" Just a nice glow in the sky with the waves crashing around. The green ground cover nicely contrasting with the sky. I captured this near Pescadero and Half Moon Bay. The waves were fairly large as you can tell by the silly people who were a little too close!

1/11/10 "Edge of the World" Northern California Coastline at Dusk. The waves smooth and ethereal, the rocks looking like they were from another planet. This is a long exposure at dusk that I shot last night. I love the blue tones that come out at dusk and the smooth waves from the long exposure. "Ice Plant Along the Coast at Sunset" Along the California coastline and highways, Ice plant is common. It flowers with nice purple flowers which gives it a nice touch. This patch at dusk was near Bean Hollow where I was capturing the waves. I really enjoy the bright reds and greens.

2/4 - Clouds over El Capitan. I captured this during the fall shooting. The clouds were swirling around the nose of El Capitan with the vivid blue sky in the background. I found a clearing just off the road near one of the turnouts and pointed my camera towards El Capitan and the sky. While I was shooting, I must have had 30 different people pull over and get out and come over wondering WHAT I was looking at! I simply said, "Look how beautiful El Cap is with those clouds!!" (Everyone agreed!) Every minute the clouds changed as they swirled around. Another beautiful place to be on a Friday afternoon. 2/11 - "Mormon Row Barns in the Grand Tetons" Grand Teton National Park near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. My parents went out to the Grand Tetons, so I decided to head out and take pictures! You can't go wrong with free accomodations! Unfortunately, this was one of the few times during the week you could actually SEE the Grand Tetons! This was captured in the spring just after the snows were clearing. I decided to go with a pano view with the trees on the left just for something different. Just nice texture on the barn and the mountains in the background! 2/18. Palace of Fine Arts at Night in San Francisco. I went up to San Francisco to attend the 20th anniversary of Photoshop which was at the Palace of Fine Arts tonight. I managed to get up there right at dusk and captured a few images. The fog was pretty thick with the lights of the Palace of Fine Arts creating a glow in the sky. This coupled with the nice reflections makes this is pleasing but almost fiery combination!
